While many look at Puma for its legacy silhouettes, the label has been making waves with new silhouettes like the Puma MB series with LaMelo Ball. Outside of basketball, the German sportswear label offers a wide selection of styles that tap into a forward-thinking aesthetic, and the Puma Plexus is a primary example. Introduced in January, Hyon Park, a designer for Puma’s Sportstyle Footwear, stated, “I tried to position our archival Puma Mostro as a new classic for the future.” Not only has this futuristic silhouette landed in a series of inline colorways, but it now has a collaborative release headed our way with Korean designer JUUN.J.
Unlike its launch colorway, JUUN.J’s take on the Puma Plexus takes on an all-black appearance with minor hits of white visible on the bungee ropes embedded into the upper’s material (which mimics a Puma Formstrip). Black shades take over the rubber toecap, suede toe cap, and various leather panels throughout the design. Tonal blacks continue up the lace set and tongue with a co-branded logo between JUUN.J and Puma, also seen in this dark shade. Another added detail exclusive to this collaboration is the included carabiner on the profile's lateral side. Rounding out the upper is the co-branded logo along the heel, while a black foam midsole and black rubber outsole complete the design.
The JUUN.J x Puma Plexus will be released on April 7th, 2023, through Puma and select retailers online and in-store. Releasing in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at €150 (approx $160 USD).
