Kiko Kostadinov's influence at Asics expanded to include the Bulgarian designer as the head of the SportStyle division. On top of his work under the SportStyle brand, his design studio works on collaborative renditions of Asics models, with the GT-2160 becoming a mainstay in this partnership. Following up on the release of the Gel-Stryax Mule and the latest pack of GT-2160s, the duo is introducing three colorways of the GT-2160 for September.

The Kiko Kostadinov x Asics UB8-S GT-2160 will be available in three distinct colorways: Pale Oak Truffle Grey, Azure Pure Gold, and Jade Coffee. Each version features a mesh base that provides breathability, complemented by synthetic leather overlays on the mudguard and portions of the midfoot for durability and style. While Kostadinov’s previous work with Asics often saw radical changes to silhouettes, this iteration of the GT-2160 remains relatively faithful to the original design, with subtle yet impactful updates like an added pull-tab on the tongue and a stitched logo on the insole. The color palettes for these releases are meticulously curated, with each pair dominated by its titular hue on the overlays, while the mesh base and piping add contrast with a complementary color. Underfoot, the sneaker boasts a Gel-cushioned foam midsole with a tonal finish, a gradient-colored clear portion near the midfoot, and a matching tonal outsole.

The Kiko Kostadinov x Asics UB8-S GT-2160 will release on September 5, 2024, through Asics and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $150.
