For New Balance, the trend of mesh runners and dad shoes has propelled the brand into the forefront of sneaker culture. Not only have inline releases from the brand’s Made in USA lineup or its array of runners become hot ticket items, but their collaborative efforts with partners have taken the spotlight. One pivotal partner has been Kith, who has brought an elevated, refined aesthetic to NB’s lineup for years. So far in 2024, we’ve seen Kith team up with New Balance on multiple occasions, including the 580, 1300, and two 1906R colorways. Ronnie Fieg has just teased us with the latest Made in USA project from Kith and NB, the 990v4. This teaser precedes the release of the brand’s upcoming 991v2 Made in UK-themed after Madison Square Garden.
Unlike the brand’s previous work on the 990v4, which came in colorful options like the United Arrows & Sons project from 2022, this new Kith 990v4 sees the pigskin suede upper appear in a toned-down greyish-green hue. This design takes over the mudguard, eyestays, vamp, and midfoot panels while perforated nubuck hits the toebox overlays. Cream shades contrast the look along the lace set and piping of the N logo. Kith branding only appears on the heel, but we see 990v4 and Made in USA logos hit the top of the tongue. Below this is a cream foam midsole paired with a tonal rubber outsole. While we only have this top-down shot of the sneaker now, more images should emerge in the coming months.
The Kith x New Balance 990v4 Made in USA Moonrock, alongside a recently previewed New Balance 1000, will release on October 8, 2024, exclusively through Kith online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, retail is set at $210. A raffle will go live on October 4.
