Marvel And BAPE Are Collaborating Once Again

Marvel x A Bathing Ape BAPESTA Collection

While the glory days of A Bathing Ape are long gone, the Japanese streetwear legend still lands collaborations with the biggest brands and franchises on the planet, from capsules with Heron Preston, New Balance, and now, once again, Marvel Comics. Their first link-up in 2005 produced some of the most iconic BAPESTA colorways, mimicking various comic book heroes' color palettes and coming packaged as an action figure would. 17 years later, and we’re set to get another Marvel x BAPE project that will include clothing and sneakers with six colorways of the BAPESTA teased so far.

Six of Marvel's biggest heroes come immortalized in sneaker form, playing off of the looks of Iron Man, The Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Black Widow, and Rocket Racoon. Just like their prior capsule, the sneakers are covered in patent leather across the upper with shades reminiscent of each character visible throughout. Typical BAPESTA branding remains with their logo landing on the tongue, midsole, and heel, though the lace dubrae gets a metallic Marvel makeover. More Marvel details come through on the lateral heel overlay with the left sneaker hosting the comic book rendition of each respective hero. At the same time, the right gets the company’s logo embroidered in its classic red and white color scheme. Finishing the sneakers design is the matching midsole and outsole combo. Packaging for the pairs will come in the same style as the original 2005 collection, put in plastic like an action figure would be packaged.

The Marvel x BAPE Collection, both sneakers and clothing, will be available in August 21st through BAPE online and in-store. Releasing in men's sizing, the retail price for the BAPESTAS is TBA.
