Entering a new phase in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the iconic comic book/superhero brand has massive plans for the next few years in terms of movie magic as we’re expecting a slew of Spider-Man movies, a new entry in the Captain America franchise, and two new Avengers films. With all the hype around Marvel, it's no surprise that they are collaborating with the likes of Nike. However, Nike isn't the only brand getting in on the Marvel action, BAPE has a whole pack of superhero-themed sneakers on the way. Riding off the success of their collaboration earlier in 2022, Marvel and BAPE have brought Dr. Strange, Spider-Man, and Venom to life on the BAPE STA silhouette
Like the classic collaboration from the early oughts and 2022s revival, this three-pack of Bape STAs comes dressed in patent leather across its upper and features not only a color scheme reminiscent of each respective character but multiple graphics featuring the iconic characters. The Dr. Strange and Spider-Man colorways come dressed in similar shades of blue and red, however, their color placements come flipped along the overlays and underlays while Dr. Strange gets an accenting hit of yellow along the laces and outsole. The classic star logo along the midfoot also gets a different treatment where we see red take over on the Sorcerer Supreme’s pair, black on Spider-Mans, and white on Venoms. Along the medial side of the heel sits a cartoon graphic of each respective character while Marvel branding is embroidered on the lateral side, however, we also get text denoting the company through a lace dubrae in metallic silver. Our final hit of the characters come via the insole which features comic book strips of each character while the entire sneaker is rounded out by a complementary colored sole unit. Packaging also gives this collaboration superhero vibes as the pairs come in a co-branded plastic box similar to that of an action figure.
The second Marvel x A Bathing Ape BAPE STA Pack, featuring Dr. Strange, Spider-Man, and Venom, is set to release on December 11th, 2022 through A Bathing Ape online and in-store. Releasing in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at 29,700 Yen (approx $220 USD).
