2025 will mark the 35th birthday of the Asics Gel-Lyte III, one of the brand’s most iconic silhouettes. Over its 30+ year history, the silhouette has been subject to countless makeovers, via inline release and collaborative renditions. Before the big celebration next year, which will be full of special pairs, Asics has tasked the creative director of mita sneakers, Shigeyuki Kunii, with creating a collaborative colorway of the Gel-Lyte III.
Dubbed Dried Rose, the pair takes inspiration from a Gel-Lyte V that was released with mita sneakers in 2014, and the same color palette and color blocking are present on this Gel-Lyte III. On the toe, we see red mesh matching the shades found on the suede details along the mudguard, Tiger stripes, and heel overlays. A Bordeaux red, reminiscent of dried roses, lands on the suede panels of the eyelets, vamp, midfoot, and the quilted canvas along the split tongue and collar. Unlike most Gel-Lyte IIIs, this pair features a zipper on the split tongue. Inside the sneaker, we see the light red shade used for the sockliner, while the insole contains a chain link fence logo, a common motif found on mita sneaker collaborations. Underfoot sits a Gel-cushioned foam midsole in cream and red paired with a gum rubber outsole
The mita sneakers x Asics Gel-Lyte III Dried Rose releases in Japan on October 7, 2024, through Asics and select retailers online and in-store. As of now, there’s no word of a worldwide drop taking place.
