Japanese sneaker retailer mita sneakers has a rich history of collaborations, often teaming up with fellow Japan native Asics. This ongoing partnership has resulted in several memorable releases, and the latest addition to this lineage is the mita sneakers x Asics Gel-Lyte III OG Trico 2024. This new release draws inspiration from the upcoming Paris Olympics, featuring a color palette that pays homage to the French flag. However, there is more than meets the eye, as the design also flips elements from the 2020 Trico project, which was inspired by the Japanese Hinomaru (rising sun) flag.
The mita sneakers x Asics Gel-Lyte III OG Trico 2024 features a striking combination of colors and materials. The sneaker's upper is primarily constructed from white leather and suede, providing a clean canvas for the bold accents. Blue suede is prominently featured on the toecap and the front portion of the midsole, while black netting adds a contrasting element to the midfoot area. A unique feature of this model is the added zipper on the classic split tongue, providing both a functional and aesthetic twist.
Gold Gel-Lyte III branding on the lateral heel and Asics branding on the heel tab add a touch of luxury. At the same time, the only red pops appear on the nylon pull tab at the heel and lining the tiger stripe on the medial midfoot. Inside, a custom chain-link fence graphic decorates the insole, paying homage to mita sneakers' signature design elements. The look is completed with a white and blue outsole featuring FAR EAST text, which was seen on the OG Trico colorway from 2020.
The mita sneakers x Asics Gel-Lyte III OG Trico 2024 will release on July 27, 2024, through mita sneakers and Asics in Japan. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at approximately $130.
