When it comes to creating controversial sneakers, MSCHF is a veteran. From the Tyga x MSCHF Wavy Baby to the MSCHF AC1, the Brooklyn-based art collective has years of experience upsetting the status quo. Last summer, it made international headlines when Nike took the brand to court over its Lil Nas X Satan Shoes which contained real blood, and with its Super Normal Sneaker 2 dropping in 666 pairs this month, the label is celebrating this release with the MSCHF "Foot Locker" exhibition - and here's everything that you need to know.
Held at the Perrotin Gallery in New York City, MSCHF's first-ever exhibit takes completely transformed the space into an interactive strip mall, with sections that include medieval armory, a gaming wing, a Chair Simulator, a tribute to its ongoing legal proceedings with Vans over the aforementioned "Wavy Baby." As a nod to this, MSCHF has taken six of the most iconic silhouettes in history, and applied its signature warped effect on them. From the Air Jordan 1 High OG "Chicago" to the Yeezy Boost 700 "Wave Runner," the display also features the Converse Chuck Taylor, adidas Superstar, and Reebok Shaqnosis, all done up in the collective's twisted design.
The MSCHF Foot Locker Exhibition opens on November 3rd, 2022, and will take place from 12pm to 8pm. Attendees will be greeted by rapper 24kGoldn who will be holding a conversation on the power of celebrity.
