New Balance's mesh runners have been a dominant force in the sneaker community for the last two years, with models like the 1906R being one of the most successful for the brand. With this, we've seen a variety of iterations that remix the silhouette, the latest being the 1906A, which adds an intentional disarray and DIY aesthetic to the model. Already revealed in a Sea Salt Metallic Silver, a Triple Black colorway is also in the works.
The New Balance 1906A Triple Black is an avant-garde twist on its predecessor, incorporating a mix of mesh, leather, and nubuck to construct its upper. The design is intentionally disheveled, presenting a DIY, almost deconstructed aesthetic that challenges traditional sneaker design. Key features include an asymmetrical placement of the vamp, which veers towards the medial side, and a tongue tag deliberately shifted towards the lateral edge.
The silhouette's innovative design is further accentuated by oversized, extending laces that drape from the N logo, additional stitching around the collar, and extra overlays on the heel, each element contributing to the sneaker's unique appeal. Underpinning the sneaker is a black and grey midsole derived from the New Balance 860v2, ensuring that the 1906A makes a visual statement and also provides the comfort and support synonymous with New Balance footwear.
The New Balance 1906A Triple Black will release on October 9, 2024, through New Balance and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men's sizing, retail is set at $170.
