Akio Hasegawa Helps Style The Redesigned New Balance 1906R

Like the 550 and 2002R, the upcoming revival of the New Balance 1906R silhouette is getting helped by collaborations with the likes of thisisneverthat and size?. While New Balance has some inlines set to release later this year, another collab with Akio Hasegawa is sure to assist in driving hype for the 1906R. The Japanese fashion director has not one, but two upcoming colorways of the redesigned New Balance 1906R inspired by the silhouettes past and its bright future.

Arriving in a white mesh underlay with various synthetic panels featuring gold, black, and silver hits, seen around the toe, midfoot, and heel, Hasegawa is clearly referencing the OG colorway of the1906R. The N logo on the midfoot borrows this gold and black color scheme while the laces nearby come in a contrasting white. More NB branding is found in various forms on the tongue tag, heel, and Ortholite insole. Rounding out the look is the white 2002R sole unit, which borrows from the 860v2, paired with a gold and black rubber outsole.

The second option in this pack opts for a neutral greenish-tan look that comes constructed out of mesh and nubuck panels. White stitching details run along the various overlays while navy accents land on the N logo, and tongue branding. Silver pipes the aforementioned N branding while a triangular-shaped panel just below also gets the metallic look. For its sole unit, a tonal tan covers the cushioning system while the rubber outsole comes in a contrasting navy.

Both launch colorways of the updated New Balance 1906R are set to release in Asia on August 12th through New Balance and select retailers online and in-store, though China will see a release a week later on August 19th. As for the rest of the world, expect these colors to launch sometime in 2022. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is TBA.
