New Balance has shown plenty of love to archival silhouettes in 2022, re-releasing the vaulted 1906R and pumping out a variety of 2002R colorways, both of which returned in upgraded fashion. Bringing back the 550, however, was not something NB had planned. Thanks to Teddy Santis, the silhouette returned via an Aime Leon Dore collaboration in 2020 and since has become one of their most popular models. Now on the heels of yet another ALD x NB 550 collab this holiday season, inline releases are appearing ahead of this season, as seen on the women’s exclusive “Pink Suede.”
Dressed in its colorways namesake, the upper is covered in pink suede along its various overlays and underlays, though white details accent this shade throughout. Nearby the 550 text on the bottommost eyestay, a set of white laces runs up a mesh tongue in the same shade, stopping below the white and pink “New Balance 550” branded tongue tag. Along the midfoot, the “N” logo takes on a white leather construction and is trimmed in tonal pink, matching the combo found on the collar with its pink nubuck sitting atop the white canvas. Further branding is visible via the “NB” logo that continues this two-tone look both on the pink insole and suede heel overlay. Underfoot, the classic 550 midsole and outsole get a white and cream makeover respectively.
The New Balance 550 Pink Suede W is set to release on December 6th, 2022 through New Balance and select retailers online and in-store. Releasing in women’s sizing, the retail price is set at $110.
