After Teddy Santis and New Balance revived the Steven Smith designed New Balance 550, the silhouette exploded in popularity. Filling the hole left by sold out Nike Dunks, the 80s low top basketball sneaker has come to us in a wide range of color combinations. Deviating from the colorful shades, New Balance is dressing this 550 in all-black.
Constructed out of typical leather and mesh, the silhouette loses some of its flair being covered entirely in black. Around the leather mudguard, perforations with 550 branding at the bottom of the eyelets, allowing the all-black laces to sit atop the mesh tongue. Atop the tongue, New Balance Basketball branding appears in dark grey. Further branding makes its way to the midfoot with the N logo and onto the heel. Rounding out the triple black look is the midsole and outsole, housing the EVA cushioning between.
The New Balance 550 Triple Black is scheduled to release in 2022 through New Balance and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men's sizing, the retail price is set at $110.
