In a brilliant nod to its heritage, New Balance is set to remaster the iconic 997. The move comes amid a trend of reviving and reinventing classic silhouettes, a strategy New Balance has successfully employed with other models such as the 2002R and 1906R.
The New Balance 997R features premium materials, including suede, pebbled leather, and mesh. New Balance maintains the classic greyscale colorway it's known for, showcasing a commitment to the brand's heritage. Premium suede adorns the mudguard, midfoot panel, and heel overlay, adding texture and depth to the design. Grey mesh on the toebox matches the shade of the distinctive "N" logo, bringing unity to the color scheme. White laces contrast the pebbled leather tongue, which proudly features the New Balance branding. Additional branding from the Boston-based label graces the heel tab. Underfoot, a creamy midsole offers superior comfort, and a black outsole ensures durability.
Alongside this "Grey" colorway, a slew of options have emerged on the silhouette. These various colorways have been listed down below, including a "Red," "Blue," and "Yellow" iteration.
The New Balance 997R will release this year through New Balance and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is approximately $140.
