Kawhi Leonard has been the leading face of New Balance's basketball division since he signed with the brand in 2018. Despite the third signature model in the line experiencing quality control issues and limited releases, New Balance recently introduced the Kawhi 4 with a successful two-pack release in April. As part of New Balance's Grey Days celebration, the Kawhi 4 has been reimagined in a classic New Balance color scheme.
The New Balance Kawhi 4 Grey Days draw inspiration from the natural aging of stone, evident in the aged midsole and cracked leather panels on the midfoot and eyestays. This design philosophy ties into the broader Grey Days collection, which highlights the beauty in materials' natural wear and tear. The sneaker's base features engineered mesh in a darker grey hue, providing breathability and a modern look.
New Balance branding is prominent throughout the sneaker, with the NB logo in red on the lateral collar and the right sneaker's tongue tag. This design choice nods to the iconic New Balance marketing slogan, The Intelligent Choice. Kawhi Leonard's name appears red on the heel, while the left sneaker's tongue tag features his signature, adding a personal touch to the design. Underfoot, the sneaker has an aged white midsole and a black rubber outsole, ensuring durability and traction on the court.
The New Balance Kawhi 4 Grey Days will release on May 25, 2024, through New Balance and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $165.
