Since signing Kawhi Leonard to the brand in 2018, New Balance has expanded its offerings in performance basketball footwear. With the Fun Guy, they’ve crafted four signature sneakers, the latest being the Kawhi 4, which has appeared in multiple colorways, including a Grey Day rendition and a collab with Tiago Lemos. Now, New Balance is paying homage to Kawhi’s legacy as a champion with the Transcend Greatness rendition, continuing with the “transcend” theme found on the first two colorways, Transcend Reality and Transcend the Game.
Across the base, we see this Kawhi 4 come coated in a black engineered mesh, with darker black shades appearing throughout. This look includes the mudguard, eyestays, heel, and midfoot, the latter containing a graphic pattern atop the wavy nubuck panel. Gold accents highlight the front panel and branding elements, such as the N logo on the top eyelet, the Kawhi logo on the heel and tongue, and the N logo on the medial midfoot. Underfoot, the pair comes with a black and gold midsole with FuelCell cushioning and a black and gold rubber outsole containing Energy Arc technology that increases the amount of total energy returned.
The New Balance Kawhi 4 Transcend Greatness will release on October 25, 2024, through New Balance and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is $160.
