New Balance’s athletic roster comprises some of the world's best across multiple sports. The face of the brand’s basketball division is NBA champion and former MVP Kawhi Leonard, while the skateboarding division features Brazilian skateboarder Tiago Lemos. For years, skateboarding has borrowed from basketball for its footwear, but New Balance Numeric is flipping the script with the upcoming Tiago x Kawhi collection, consisting of the Kawhi 4, 1010, and 480.
New Balance describes the collection as representing the “symbiotic relationship between basketball and skateboarding’s deep cultures, while celebrating the stories of two icons that share a mutual respect for the street and court." Across the three sneakers, we see an identical color palette and material makeup as each pair features black suede for its mudguard and heel. More of this black hue lands along the sockliner, with the tongue containing black and red branding details for the model. White paneling takes over the toebox, midfoot, and tongue, contrasting the grey around the collar. In classic NB fashion, the N logo on the midfoot takes on a metallic silver finish. Below, each pair features the usual tooling in a white finish paired with a gum outsole.
The Tiago x Kawhi x New Balance Pack will be released on September 27, 2024, through New Balance and select skate shops online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $110 for the 1010 and 480, while a price for the Kawhi 4 has not been announced.
