Deion Sanders' time with Nike produced classic silhouettes that define ‘90s footwear. However, the two's relationship fell apart, and many assumed that Sanders would never return to The Swoosh. Thankfully for fans of his Diamond Turf silhouettes, the duo agreed on a new deal in 2023 and have plenty in store for the footwear industry. After a shock drop of the original Black Varsity Maize colorway of the Air DT Max 96 and the reveal of upcoming pairs like the Diamond Turf '49ers and DT Max 96 Atlanta Falcons, the DT Max 96 is getting a cleated makeover.
The Nike Air DT Max 96 TD Cleat retains the distinctive design of its predecessor but is adapted for the gridiron. The upper flaunts the dynamic, scratch mark-like pattern seen on the OG with durable black nubuck at the toe and midfoot. Vibrant yellow accents highlight the perforations and Swoosh branding along the midfoot and the Prime branding on the tongue tag.
We see a quote from Deion Sanders for the insole: “If you look good, you feel good. If you feel good, you play good. If you play good, they pay good.” Additional white contrasts are on the base layer, exposed through the unique upper design. A neoprene bootie, borrowed from the Vapor Edge 360, ensures a snug, comfortable fit, enhancing the cleat's performance capabilities. The design is completed with a robust, black-and-white cleated outsole, providing optimal traction and agility on the field.
The Nike Air DT Max 96 TD Cleat Black Varsity Maize will release on June 14, 2024, through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men's sizing, the retail price is set at $220.
