Nike's hometown may be in Beaverton, Oregon, however, the global sportswear brand has honored plenty of regions throughout its history from country-themed sneakers to specific US cities. In recent memory, we’ve seen the city of Houston get its own AF1, Atlanta getting both a Dunk and AF1, and now San Francisco is getting a thematic Air Max 1 Premium.
Taking on shades of white and grey throughout its upper, the silhouette takes on a mixture of cracked leather, smooth leather, shearling, and canvas to create a nod to The Bay area. Cracked leather appears in grey on the mudguard while the base layer visible on the toebox and collar comes in a white canvas. Sherling in white peeks through the vamp and along the top of the tongue which features hippy-like font with “The Bay” spelled out in grey. More nods to San Fran make their way to the insole with the left shoe featuring a California license plate and the phrase “Nike Coast” while the right shoe takes on more “The Bay” text. Along the midfoot, we see a large smooth leather panel in white with the lateral side featuring a red feather Swoosh and the medial coming with a textured leather finish. Rounding out the upper is the tumbled leather heel overlay and its Nike Air embroidery with the entire design complete by a white AM 1 midsole paired with a gum rubber outsole.
