With the new year fast approaching, we’ve been given plenty of previews of thematic sneakers that align with the early holidays of 2025, including Valentine’s Day. Various Nike releases have already found their way online. Still, during the latest SNKRS Showcase, which included detailed looks at pairs like the Diamond Turf 49ers, Air Max 95 Neon, and a retro of Paul Rodriguez’s first signature sneaker, The Swoosh revealed the Air Max 1 is joining the Valentine’s Day celebration in 2025.
Nike uses a familiar color palette of pink and red, as with almost all Valentine’s Day kicks. However, the material choices and added details set this apart from your regular pink Air Max. The patent leather overlays along the mudguard, vamp, midfoot, and heel overlay are inspired by the mylar balloons often associated with the holiday.
This design is showcased via the overlays and by the custom ballon-inspired lace dubraes that spell out Nike along the lacing setup. Also on the laces is a cliche phrase you don't want to hear on Valentine's Day — "It's not you, it's me" — in a font that mimics the one found on chalk heart candy. Matching the lettering are the red mesh panels along the toe and collar and the Nike branding in red on the midfoot and heel. Finishing the design is the red Air Max 1 midsole paired with a red and pink outsole.
Alongside the previewed pair, Sole Retriever can confirm that two other iterations will be released. One will come in Black Playful Pink and the other in White University Red. These will likely take on the same theme and added details of the Playful Pink University Red rendition.
The Nike Air Max 1 Valentine’s Day 2025 Collection will release in Spring 2025 through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men's sizing, the retail price is $160.
