Nike Introduces The Athletics East Collection With A Special Edition Air Max 90
Back in the 1970s, a running program for young athletes to continue competing outside of college didn't exist in the US. As a solution to this, Nike co-founders Bill Bowerman and Phil Knight formed the Athletics West running team. Comprising of runners like Bill Rodgers, Craig Virgin, Frank Shorter, and of course, the mythical Steve Prefontaine, the ragtag group helped popularize the sport in the States. To pay tribute to this, the Oregon-based brand has revealed the Nike Air Max 90 "Athletics East." The first sneaker to debut as part of the "Athletic East" collection, here's everything that we know so far.
Boasting a unique mesh-on-mesh base, wolf grey leather wraps around the lateral and medial side panels alongside buttery soft nubuck mudguards that surrounding the Air Max 90. Bright blue rubber elements hit the lacing system and heel badge, and underfoot you'll find a crisp white midsole. Just in case you didn't already know the inspiration behind this special edition colorway, "NIKE ATHLETICS EAST" branding adorns the tongue, insole, and the back of the Air unit, finalizing the design.
The Nike Air Max 90 Athletics East is set to release sometime in early 2023 and be available in men's sizes with a retail price yet TBA. In terms of where you'll be able to cop, these will drop at Nike, the SNKRS app, and select retailers online and in physical locations within the coming months. As mentioned already, more sneakers will be added to the "Athletics East" collection very soon, so make sure you follow us on Twitter and download our officialMobile App to find out everything that you need to know.
