If you thought your favorite silhouettes were safe from being remixed, remade, or reimagined, think again. The Nike Air Max 90 has always been unsafe here, with various innovations added to the 90s runner over the past 20+ years. With pairs like Persian Violet Dusty Cactus and Light Orewood Brown on the way, another pair is dropping alongside them, Action Green.
All the new parts of the Nike Air Max 90 Drift remind me of plated armor similar to the Foamposite but flat, almost like a robot or, for my anime fans, a Gundam. The new material doesn't make the AM 90 Drift look or feel bulky. On the contrary, it looks smooth and sleek, with the toe cap being more angled and sharp. The green-based design features ripstop nylon material underlays.
A bright crimson stripe runs down the center of the sneaker, from tongue to toe, with a pull tab at the top. The same pull tab is found on the back heel, and both feature 3M reflective hits. Black accents the rest of the upper, while a white mudguard houses the Air Max badge on the heel in action green. Below is a white foam midsole housing a black midsole wedge, which exposes the visible Max Air unit in action green. A solid black rubber outsole completes the look.
The Nike Air Max 90 Drift Action Green will release on July 1, 2024, through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, retail is set at $160.
