Making its debut in 1990, the Air Max 3, now known as the Air Max 90, was created by world-renowned designer Tinker Hatfield. The Nike Air Max 90 features a sleek design that became an instant hit worldwide. Fast forward to current times, after hundreds of colorways and collaborations, the Air Max 90 has been a staple in the footwear and streetwear world for over thirty years. While Nike could continue to release the Air Max 90 in its original form, its creative mind for innovation leads to modern-day upgrades on past and present silhouettes.
The Nike Air Max 90 has been given numerous updates throughout the years. Everything from Hyperfuse, Terrascape, Futura, and even the recent platform style, Elevate, has used the Air Max 90 as its muse, combining classic styles with modern-day looks. The next AM 90 hybrid, the Air Max 90 Drift, is set to debut this fall.
This Drift version of the AM 90 features a slightly different look throughout the design. The sleeker shape of this new iteration makes the shoe look even faster than its 1990 counterpart. Extended pull tabs are found on the tongue and back heel, providing additional support for putting the sneaker on for a snug fit. With these new innovative additions complimenting the traditional details, the Air Max 90 Drift breathes new life into a timeless classic.
The Nike Air Max 90 Drift Light Orewood Brown has a balanced light orewood brown and khaki color scheme. The upper comprises various materials, giving it a utilitarian vibe. Hits of black on the mudguard, laces, and lining help to break up the brown-based theme. Classic, visible Max Air cushioning is found in the heel, while a solid black rubber outsole completes the look.
The Nike Air Max 90 Drift Light Orewood Brown will release on July 1, 2024, through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, retail is set at $160.
