The Swoosh has made it evident that its retro silhouettes are ready to hit the links as we’ve seen various models across the board take on golf-ready variants in the last few years. Not only have we seen Jordan Brand introduce iconic Air Jordan models with course-friendly outsoles but so too have models like the Air Max 1 and Air Max 90. Continuing the trend of Air Max 90 Golf releases, one of the PGA Tour’s most memorable tournaments, the Players Championship (which takes place in early March), is getting honored through the model.
Covered in shades of white, grey, metallic gold, and blue, the Air Max 90 Golf “Players Championship” features a mainly all-white build with gold and blue accents spotted throughout the design. Leather overlays appear near the toe, midfoot panel, mudguard, and heel with shades of white and grey allowing the navy blue Swoosh (with gold trim) to shine through. TPU eyestays continue the greyish-white hue found on the toebox and collar while tonal laces match these locations as well as the tongue. Golden branding details make their way to the tongue with its “Nike Air Max” logo as well as back on the heel via “X” stitching details below the “Nike Air” text on the heel tab. On the insole, we see nods to the game of golf through the included Air Max 90 and golf course-inspired graphics featuring the phrase “Brush off and find the hidden treasure.” Hidden details can also be found with a wear-away overlay along the midfoot’s grey overlay with it revealing a gold and navy blue-laden graphic continuing the insole’s golf-inspired drawings. Rounding out the design is the white midsole with navy blue rubber surrounding the Air unit paired with a semi-translucent icy blue and gold-speckled rubber outsole.
The Nike Air Max 90 Golf Players Championship is set to release in March 2023 (likely before the tournament begins March 9th)through Nike and select NSW retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $150.
