The Air Max 95 was initially designed to accommodate heavy-footed runners who needed a sturdier shoe with better cushioning to aid in their runs. The human anatomy-inspired sneaker drew inspiration from striations of muscle and the structure of the spine and skeleton to create a unique layered look of materials that were anchored by the rigid structure of the heel. It’s no secret that Nike Running and Nike Air Max are foundational pieces to the brand’s storied history in performance apparel and footwear. So, why not celebrate their historical place with a shoe that stands out among the rest in the Air Max 95.
The Nike Air Max 95 "Anatomy Of Air" edition features bands of suede used for the upper in shades of red and pink, getting progressively more pink from the bottom of the shoe to the top. A light grey suede is used as the final underlay of the upper, which hides the nylon straps used as the face-lacing system’s eyelets. A darker grey portion of suede is used to cap the toe box, as parallel lines of stitching run through every panel of material on the upper.
The cream-colored speed lacing eyelets and the lace loops on the tongue complement the heel counter and midsole cream. The white tongue is held in place using white braided laces that run through the eyelets into a dark red tongue and “Air Max” stitched against a red and white striped backdrop in the tongue tag. All this sits right atop the milky, yet slightly translucent, outsole.
