We’ve seen over the last few years brands making conscious decisions to use environmentally friendly materials in their products. Nike is no stranger to this, going eco friendly with their Space Hippie collection. This time, a classic is given the sustainable treatment on the Air Max 95 Hemp “Ironstone.”
Normally constructed using leather and suede, the upper of this Air Max 95 is made up of a canvas mixed with hemp fibers. While the materials of the base may differ from your average AM95, the silhouette maintains its iconic look. Brown suede mudguard wrapping up to the base of the tongue compliments the olive-toned layers of canvas swimming across the upper. The white netting around the eyelets is constructed with a loose weave, aiding the sustainable build. An accompanying gold Nike Swoosh is embroidered on the ankle, popping off the earth-tone canvas. Sitting below the upper, the blacked out Air Max 95 midsole contrasts the lighter-colored upper.
The Nike Air Max 95 Hemp Ironstone has already seen a European release on January 19th, 2022. A US release date is expected in the near future. Releasing through Nike and select retailers online and in-store, this pair will retail for $180 in men's sizing. UPDATE 01/28: An official US release date is set for the Nike Air Max 95 Hemp Ironstone. Look out for it at Nike, the SNKRS app and select retailers on February 9th.
