Air cushioning has been integral to Nike’s DNA since the technology was introduced in the ‘70s. What brought eyes to the tech was making it visible, achieved thanks to Tinker Hatfield and the Air Max 1 in 1986. Since then, the Air Max series has garnered a cult following and is one of the most recognizable sneaker series on the planet, with innovations each year. For Air Max Day 2024, Nike brought forth its most advanced Air cushioning setup, the Dynamic Air unit, in the Air Max DN. It utilized a four-chamber multi-pressure Air unit that allowed the air to move between the chambers dynamically. A preview of the follow-up to the DN, the Air Max DN8, was spotted on the feet of Corteiz team member Javel Berlin at the end of October. However, retailer images of the silhouette have finally emerged.
Seen in a Black Bright Crimson color scheme, the silhouette features a multi-layered mesh upper with Nexkin mesh slashes along the midfoot. Most of the mesh has a bright crimson finish, while the slash portions have a gradient black-to-red color scheme. More black hues are on the rubber toe cap, felt vamp and eyelets, and the tongue and sockliner mesh portions. Air Max branding finds a home atop the tongue, with the Air Max DN logo on the black TPU heel counter. Underfoot is where all eyes are drawn, as the black foam midsole contains two Dynamic Air units, four in the heel and four in the forefoot. Like the Air Max DN, the Air units have multi-pressured units that dynamically allow air to move between the chambers. The black rubber outsole finishes the design with a semi-translucent bright crimson portion in the center, which shows inside the Air unit.
The Nike Air Max DN8 Black Bright Crimson will release on March 6, 2025, through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is $190.
