This Nike Air Max Plus Comes In Prototype Form
Updated on •PublishedWe’ve seen no shortage of Air Max silhouettes to begin 2022, especially considering Nike is celebrating 35 years of the entire Air Max line. From Concepts' trifecta of Air Max 1’s to the Japanese exclusive “Wabi-Sabi” pair, the Swoosh can venture into complex designs. Keeping things simple this time around is the Nike Air Max Plus “Prototype.”
This pair features a mesh base and overlays made of leather and fused plastic. Wrapping around the toebox is a black patent leather mudguard that meets a standard leather overlay along the midfoot. Utilizing a similar lacing system to prior Air Max models, the eye stays house a set of black rope laces that sit below a red Nike Swoosh embroidered into the tongue tag. Placed all over the mesh base of the upper are grey fused plastic overlays in a wave-like pattern. Along the midfoot, these fused overlays sit between a mini Nike Swoosh in red. Back on the heel, a black leather overlay works up to form the heel tab. Finishing the design is a white midsole with red accents coming from the Air unit and a black, red, blue, and yellow rubber outsole.
The Nike Air Max Plus Prototype is set to release on April 21st, 2022 through Nike and select NSW retailers online and in-store. Coming in men's sizing, the retail price is set at $175.
