Despite the prevalence of pop culture-inspired collaborations in the footwear industry, we, as a community, frequently establish associations even when they lack official endorsement. This seems to be the case with the latest Nike Air Max Plus, which comes in a colorway reminiscent of Spider-Man’s suit.
Although we have an official collaboration with Spider-Man on the horizon with the Air Jordan 1 High “The Next Chapter” this unofficial nod to the friendly neighborhood spider features a black base with red and blue accents. A gradient-like effect is added around (and on) the various TPU overlays. Blue mesh transitions into black and red overlays featuring hits of blue near its base. Aside from the Swoosh on the midfoot, Nike branding atop the tongue and a Tuned Air logo sitson the heel. The rest of the upper then gets doused in a stealthy black shade. Underfoot, the Air Max-cushioned midsole comes in all-black, with the black outsole featuring more gradient red/blue on the carbon fiber plate.
The Nike Air Max Plus Spider-Man (GS) will release this year through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in grade school sizing, the retail price is $145.
