This Nike Blazer Low Platform Celebrates Japanese Culture
PublishedBack on November 3rd, 1946, Japan introduced its newly drafted constitution, setting the foundation on which the country would govern itself for the next 70-plus years. Two years after this day, Culture Day became a public holiday celebrating this achievement through traditional Japanese cultural activities. With this, Nike saw it fit to produce footwear honoring the age-old tradition with the upcoming Nike Blazer Low Platform "Culture Day."
The upper on this commemorative Blazer Low Platform takes on a white faux-fur across its various overlays and underlays, accented by white stitching details throughout these panels. Cream laces run up the faux-fur tongue towards the same colored sockliner and tongue lining. Black details are present along the midfoot through the Nike Swoosh and a heel tab that forgoes Nike branding in favor of metal studs. Down on the insole, a custom graphic depicts various vintage Nike branding with images of Japanese buildings, also calling back to their days as Blue Ribbon Sports. Underfoot, a sail vulcanized rubber midsole and outsole in a platform style complete the look.
The Nike Blazer Low Platform Culture Day W has already seen a Japan release back in November 2021 with a wider release planned for 2022 through Nike and select NSW retailers online and in-store. Coming exclusively in women’s sizing, the retail price is set at $95.
