Nike's pantheon of signature athletes is a testament to its dominance in sports footwear, showcasing a lineage of designs that encapsulate both performance and the personal stories of its athletes. Devin Booker, the sharpshooting guard for the Phoenix Suns, has recently been inducted into this elite group with his Nike Book 1. The release of the Book 1 has been met with eager anticipation and fervent discussion among sneakerheads, particularly following the swift sell-out of its initial colorways, the Mirage and Mirage V2. Amidst a backdrop of high expectations and criticism of the sneaker’s rollout, the Rattlesnake colorway unveils another chapter to the Book 1 saga. This look comes after getting an early look at the Haven rendition.
Designed with a keen eye for detail and a nod to Devin Booker's personal experiences, the Rattlesnake version of the Nike Book 1 melds aesthetics with functionality. The sneaker's construction integrates leather, mesh, and canvas, presenting a predominantly white palette that serves as a canvas for its striking details. Adding perforated leather around the collar and toebox enhances the sneaker's visual appeal and ensures optimal breathability for on-court performance. The centerpiece of this design is the faux snakeskin Swoosh, a feature inspired by a snake encountered by Booker during a hike, symbolizing adaptability and resilience. The white midsole with a top-loaded Zoom Air bag in the heel and Cushlon 2.0 foam round out the look, paired with a tonal outsole.
The Nike Book 1 Rattlesnake will release on May 11, 2024, through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $140.
