Love them or hate them, there is no denying how powerful the Nike Dunk has been over the course of the last 3 years with many colorways demanding big bucks on secondary. While the silhouette still sells out, the hype train is definitely slowing down, yet, Nike continues to bring us new colorways and redesigns almost daily. The Nike Dunk Low Cartoon kicks it back to the 90's drawing inspiration from those Saturday morning animated series that we all know and love.
For this Cartoon colorway, Nike changes the standard construction we are all too familiar with on the Dunk, adding a sandwich mesh and extended pull-tab to the mix. Down on the toe, a muted yellow perforated leather is surrounded by tan cracked leather overlays located on the mudguard and eyestays, all of which are complemented by a mini Nike Swoosh embroidered in orange. Working up the cream-colored mesh tongue is a set of tonal laces and a nylon pull tab running from the vamp to above the tongue, getting stitched in bright orange down its spine. Along the midfoot, sandwich mesh in a tonal cream replaces the usual leather build. Running from this panel back to the suede heel tab hosting a cartoon drawing is a suede Nike Swoosh in a baby blue. Also located on the heel is an iridescent D-ring, kept in place by a nylon loop mimicking the pull-tab seen on the tongue. More cartoon drawings appear on the insole with an anthropomorphic earth and sun graphic featured on the right and left pair respectively. Underfoot, a sail Dunk midsole with bright orange accent stitching is paired with an olive green rubber outsole, completing the look.
The Nike Dunk Low Cartoon is slated to release in 2022 through Nike and select NSW retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $100.
