Designed by Peter Moore and released in 1985, the Nike Dunk Low has emerged as one of the go-to sneakers for casual consumers and hardcore sneakerheads alike. Though not taking on the vintage design that is taking over the zeitgeist, Nike is looking to bring vintage and retro vibes to the humble Nike Dunk Low. With official images already revealed of the upcoming Nike Dunk High "Stadium Green," its low-top cousin is getting a similar double-swoosh treatment on the Nike Dunk Low "Double Swoosh" Sail.
Taking on a short-haired suede throughout the various overlays and underlays, the silhouette keeps its color palette simple by taking on a majority neutral look. On the mudguard, eyestays, and heel overlay sits a sail color, complimenting the brighter white found on the toebox, midfoot, and collar. A white set of flat laces works up the mesh tongue to the retro “85” text on the top tongue tag, replacing the usual Nike text. The midfoot houses the biggest change on the silhouette, adding a secondary leather Nike Swoosh in sail to accent the red leather Swoosh placed just above. Back on the suede heel tab, more retro vibes are present with stylized Nike branding bringing one back to the 80s. On the insole and sockliner, a black clashing black and white combo is chosen respectively. Rounding out the look is the white Nike Grind midsole and gum Nike Grind rubber outsole.
The Nike Dunk Low Double Swoosh Sail is set to release in 2022 through Nike and select NSW retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is TBA.
