Wale Teases a Volt Colorway of the Nike GT Future on the Cover of his New Single
Published
Online chatter around Nike’s “lack of innovation” dominated sneaker circles for most of 2024. Many pointed to the likes of adidas with Anthony Edwards’ AE 1 sneaker, which ended up atop many sneaker of the year lists from publications, comparing the popularity and success of this new model to Nike Basketball models that, quite frankly, could not compare to Edwards’ model.
This seems to have lit a fire underneath Nike, as the brand went to the kitchen and cooked up a new silhouette that many hope can reinvigorate the energy around Nike Basketball — the Nike GT Future. After debuting an Orange colorway and later being spotted rocking a blue variant, Wale has again shown off a new colorway of this futuristic sneaker.

Pictured on the cover art of Wale’s upcoming single, Blanco, the GT Future takes on an all-over volt finish with black accents gracing the tongue, sockliner, lace set, and the Swoosh logos on the upper. The no-sew molded upper draws comparison to the Foamposite, especially in colorways like the Copper Eggplant variant posted by Frank Cooke. Still, the general shape of the collar immediately makes one think of the Hyperflight, another Y2K-era basketball model from The Swoosh that became a cult classic. Below the upper is a blacked-out rubber outsole.
Although there is no release information to report on this Volt colorway, the Nike GT Future is expected to debut Holiday 2025 through Nike and select retailers online and in-store for $190.
