Recyclability and eco-friendly materials have been a top priority for business across the board, with Nike being one of the leaders in the footwear industry on this front. Plenty of classic silhouettes and new designs are coming with recycled materials and environmentally friendly packaging, eventually leading to a fully circular life cycle that allows shoes to be refurbished or reused to create new pairs. It seems Nike has almost reached the pinnacle of this circular design philosophy with their latest silhouette, the Nike ISPA Link, launching in a “Barely Desert Moss” colorway.
Helping reduce the impact of production on the environment, the silhouette utilizes a two-piece upper and sole unit that requires zero glue, instead making these pieces interlocking components. On the knit upper, a mixture of desert moss, tan, and red create the unique design pattern that gets accented by blue nylon eyestays and the tongue’s pull-tab featuring ISPA branding. A red knit pipes along the collar, helping to create the opening for this bootie-like silhouette. Nike branding appears in the form of two Swooshes on the upper, one located on the toe and the other appearing on the synthetic suede heel overlay. Down along the red foam sole unit, bulges protrude from the upper and provide a soft underfoot experience, also acting as the shoe's outsole.
The Nike ISPA Link Barley Desert Moss is set to release through Nike and select retailers online and in-store on June 22nd, 2022. Coming in unisex sizing, the sneaker will retail for $225.
