Nike played its cards right when choosing to give Ja Morant a signature silhouette as the flashy and explosive NBA star exudes the “Just Do It” mentality and sets a prime example for other Gen Z athletes. Since we revealed his silhouette was set to debut in 2023, we’ve seen a slew of colorways pop up from retro Grizzlies colors to the mismatched “Game Royal University Red,” however, the latest color to be revealed may be the most glamorous of them all. Taking on a “Midnight” naming convention, the Nike Ja 1 is getting covered in Swarovski crystals.
Keeping its usual construction of mesh, leather, and TPU throughout the upper, the silhouette comes mainly covered in shades of black with our only accenting hit coming via the Swarovski crystals and icy blue rubber outsole. Tumbled leather panels appear along the mudguard, tongue, and portions of the eyestays while TPU takes over most of the eyestays. Working up the tongue you’ll spot a “12 AM” lace charm covered in Swarovski crystals, matching the Swoosh logo’s crystal-covered finish. Aside from this, typical Ja Morant branding remains with his signature logo appearing atop the tongue and on the insole. Underfoot sits a black foam midsole paired with a semi-translucent icy blue rubber outsole featuring the phrase “Its 12 AM somewhere” near the toe.
The Nike Ja 1 Midnight is set to release in 2023 through Nike and select NSW retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price for this pair sees a significant increase due to the Swarovski crystals, priced at $250.
