The Nike Zoom Freak 5 Ode To Your First Love takes design cues from the Nike Air Zoom Total Ninety II FG, a classic soccer boot from the early 2000s, and the color scheme of the Greek National Team. The sneaker features a striking patent leather overlay in silver with quilted stitching details that echo the aesthetics of its soccer counterpart. The homage extends to the right tongue, which sports a badge reminiscent of vintage Nike soccer equipment, centered with the word Freak as a proud declaration of Giannis's nickname.
The upper is complemented by black jersey mesh along the tongue, while the sockliner, tongue tag, and laces are presented in vibrant blue. A standout feature is the large Swoosh on the midfoot, which showcases a gradient pattern transitioning from black to blue, symbolizing Giannis's dynamic playstyle and the fluidity of his growth as an athlete. This gradient design is mirrored on the eyelet and collar overlays, moving from silver to blue towards the back. The design is completed with a clean white midsole and black rubber outsole.
The Nike Zoom Freak 5 Ode To Your First Love will release on April 25, 2024, through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the pair will retail for $140.
