2024 marks the return of the Summer Olympics and the latest Euro Cup, which pits the best national teams in Europe against one another to crown a victor. Celebrating this event, German-based retailer Overkill is linking with fellow German footwear titan adidas to craft a ZX 8000 inspired by the German National Team. This collaboration follows up on their Anniversary Pack of ZX 6000s and pays homage to the legacy of adidas' sponsorship of the German team, which will transition to Nike in 2027.
The Overkill x adidas ZX 8000 Home Game features a white finish, embodying the sleek and clean aesthetic often associated with the German National Team's kits. The colors of the German flag—black, red, and yellow—are prominently displayed on the Three Stripes logo, adding a vibrant contrast to the sneaker's base. Co-branded details are meticulously incorporated, with Overkill and adidas logos adorning the lace dubrae. The heel tab is split between the right and left sneakers, showcasing the adidas logo on one and the Overkill logo on the other.
Inside, the insoles feature a unique print inspired by the Olympic Stadium in Berlin, the venue for this year's championship game in the Euro Cup. This thoughtful detail adds a layer of storytelling to the sneaker and roots it firmly in the context of the upcoming tournament. The design is completed with a white and black midsole, additional German-inspired colors near the midfoot, and a durable black rubber outsole for traction and stability.
The Overkill x adidas ZX 8000 Home Game will release on June 8, 2024, exclusively via Overkill online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at €140 (approx $150).
