With the Air Jordan 8 celebrating its 30th Anniversary this year, Jordan Brand is bring back classic colorways including the “Playoff.” Aside from running back the hits, Jordan Brand has also tapped Miami-based sneaker boutique SoleFly for a collaborative take on the Air Jordan 8. Although founder Carlos Prietro shared images of a different sample on Threads, Sole Retriever can confirm the SoleFly x Air Jordan 8 will release in a Sail Metallic Gold colorway.
As the images of the sample show, the iconic silhouette takes inspiration from Deion Sanders' Nike Air Diamond Turf — a fitting homage, as Sanders’ just re-signed with Nike this year. An all-over suede upper appears here in navy with red, white, black, and metallic gold accents. A second sample has also been shown featuring canvas for the base layer. Hits of red land on the sockliner, while the color joins white and black on the heel's TPU heel. Familiar features including the "23" and "Air Jordan" marks remain, while golden accents can be found on the strap, aglets, and SoleFly-branded hang tag shaped like home plate. The midsole comes in white and navy, while the outsole gets a white, navy, and red finish.
It bears repeating that the sample pictured below is not the final version of the sneaker, as the color scheme for the release version will be sail and metallic gold—moreover, the SoleFly x Air Jordan 8 Retro Mi Casa Es Su Casa ditches the Diamond Turf inspiration for a cigar-theme. Still nodding to baseball, this iteration pays homage to another of Michael Jordan's favorite recreational activities. Metallic gold and varsity red accents highlight the sail and white upper. The chenille tongue patch and the number "23" embroidered on the straps come in red and obsidian, with a gold Jumpman in the middle of the tongue. SoleFly branding is present on the custom insoles and packaging.
Alongside the retail version, an F&F iteration of this Jordan 8 colorway has been crafted on a Jordan 8 Low. The Jordan 8 Low is a model that was last released in 2007 and likely won't be seeing retail shelves anytime soon.
The SoleFly x Air Jordan 8 Retro SP Mi Casa Es Su Casa will release on December 8, 2023, through SoleFly with a Nike SNKRS drop to follow on December 16. The retail price is set at $225. In addition to the retail pairs of the SF Jordan 8 Mi Casa Es Su Casa, SoleFly's owner, Carlos Prietro, seeded limited friends & family versions of the sneaker that come in a special box. DJ Khaled was one of the lucky 23 to receive the F&F SoleFly Jordan 8's. There was also a very limited Air Jordan 8 Retro Low sample made, 1 of only 2 pairs.
