New Balance’s Tokyo Design Studio quietly has been pushing the boundaries of footwear design, taking on the motto of “tangible production first, questions later.” With this in mind, the TDS team has chosen like-minded partners in the past that share similar ideas when it comes to constructing their takes on classic New Balance silhouettes. One of these partners, Stone Island, helped along with one of their experimental designs back in 2021. Already seen in a colorway inspired by the NB 1300JP, the Stone Island x TDS New Balance RC ELITE “Brown Neon Green” has appeared.
Taking on the same construction as previously released pairs, the color palette shifts from neutral tones to a mix of earth tones and neon colors. The mesh base takes on a bright neon green with both Stone Island and NB logos coming courtesy of the fused overlays along the toebox in white. Jagged leather overlays in a dark brown are placed around the toe, midfoot, and heel. Laces, sockliner, and accent stitching near the collar come in white, accenting the black tongue and uppermost eyestay. Along the midfoot, the N branding borrows from the dark brown overlay and comes with a white underlay. Rounding out the look is a white Fuel Cell midsole paired with a two-tone white and black rubber outsole.
The Stone Island x TDS New Balance RC ELITE Brown Neon Green is set to release on July 8th 2022 through New Balance and select retailers online and in-store.
