Following the unfortunate and untimely passing of legendary designer Virgil Abloh, Louis Vuitton named Pharrell Williams as the head of men’s fashion. We’ve since seen a debut collection as part of LV’s Fall/Winter 2023 season and a recent teasing of an upcoming LV x Timberland collection. Pharrell and LV have unveiled a groundbreaking collaboration with multi-disciplinary designer and artist Tyler, The Creator.
“Tyler has been my close friend and collaborator for years, and we’ve always connected on music and design," Pharrell shared. "This collaboration is unique to Louis Vuitton because it’s a natural extension of our LVERS philosophy, building on our network of incredible artists and creatives."
The collection screams Tyler, The Creator, with its preppy, upscale looks, including knitwear. He revisited the iconic LV monogram, introducing his hand-drawn "Craggy Monogram" set against a palette of pastel hues, featuring whimsical drawings of his Airedale terriers. This new monogram graces various items, from denim pieces to bags, hats, and even multiple pairs of boots, all infused with a playful, cartoonish charm.
A highlight of the capsule is the Waffle Speedy bag, an imaginative piece that features a see-through waffle pattern with a melted butter-like "LV" logo at its center, complete with a Louis Vuitton maple syrup hang tag. The collection also includes a unique chess board, with wooden pieces redesigned by Tyler, The Creator himself, showcasing the depth and diversity of his creative talents.
The Tyler, The Creator x Louis Vuitton collection is slated to release on March 21, 2024, through Louis Vuitton in-store and online. Prices have not been revealed, though with this being Louis Vuitton expect to pay the premium the brand demands.
