The Korean fashion label thisisneverthat is well-versed in footwear collaborations, particularly with New Balance. In 2022, the duo worked on a 2002R and a 1906R colorway. In 2023, a three-pack of 550 colorways hit the market. Now, thisisneverthat has decided to work on one of NB’s latest revival projects — the New Balance 1000 — in a colorway that perfectly fits the mesh runner aesthetic of the model.
Things remain simple regarding the color palette, with a white base accentuated by metallic silver and red. Leather panels on the mudguard, wavy midfoot panels, and heel come coated in metallic silver, while the lining of the midfoot and heel panels come in red. This vibrant color continues onto the abstract cutouts and embroidered details on the toebox, the lace loops, the N logo on the midfoot, and the 1000 branding near the lateral toe. More metallic silver runs down the spine of the tongue, which comes in the same open-spaced white mesh as the base, with the top of the tongue containing thisisneverthat and New Balance 1000 logos. thisisneverthat also finds a home on the lace aglet, insole, and right heel. The white Abzorb midsole finishes the design with red accents and a black rubber outsole.
The thisisneverthat x New Balance 1000 will release in 2024 through thisisneverthat, New Balance, and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price has yet to be confirmed.
