One of the most popular cartoons of the 80s, Transformers, has made its way from Saturday Morning Cartoons to one of the most recognizable IPs in the world. Spanning forty years, Transformers has released countless cartoon series, live-action movies, and more. The robots in disguise have even crossed over into the sneaker world thanks to collaborations with Nike, Jordan Brand, adidas, Puma, and more. Next up, Converse links up with Hasbro to celebrate the Transformers' 40th Anniversary.
The Transformers x Converse 40th Anniversary Collection features footwear, apparel, and accessories. For the footwear side of things, five pairs will be released alongside a limited edition run of Converse By You custom designs. First, we have the Converse Chuck Taylor All-Star Hi in both Autobots and Decepticons editions. Paying homage to the Autobots' leader, Optimus Prime, this pair features a canvas-based upper with an all-over grid pattern and a gradient fade design. Optimus makes his presence felt with custom graphics on the later sides. The Autobots logo is seen via the leather patch on the tongue with the catchphrase More Than Meets The Eye! on the back heel. A custom Energon Axe molded rubber hangtag adds extra flare.
The second is the Decepticons edition. This CTAS Hi pays tribute to Megatron, leader of the Decepticons. This pair comes in an all-grey theme, with Megatron's face on the lateral heels. The all-over grid pattern also covers this pair sans the midfoot panel on the lateral sides. The Decepticons logo is prominent on the tongue, and the custom printed insoles while More Than Meets The Eye! also grace this pair's back heel. Like its Autobots counterpart, this Decepticons pair has a custom hangtag in the form of a molded Energon Mace.
Two more Chuck Taylor's come into play for kids: an Easy-On Hi and an Easy-On Ox. The high-top pair features elastic laces and an ankle strap for ease of use. In addition, custom graphics adorn the lateral sides behind thermoplastic, with Megatron on the right and Optimus Prime on the left. Each pair's accent colors reflect their respective Decepticon and Autobot leader. The low-top pair represents Bumblebee, a fan-favorite Autobot. The iconic character is on the hook and loop closure with the Transformers logo on the lateral heels.
Rounding out the Transformers x Converse 40th Anniversary Collection is the All-Star BB Shift CX, which also highlights Bumblebee. The yellow-based design features a dynamic ripstop and polyester canvas upper. The Autobots logo is prominent in red on the tongue, while custom printed insoles depicting Bumblebee tie everything together.
In addition to the five pairs mentioned above and Converse By You custom options, a collection of hoodies, sweatshirts, t-shirts, and a backpack will also be available as a part of this collection.
The Transformers x Converse 40th Anniversary Collection is set to release on September 19, 2024, at Converse and select retailers online and in-store. The two adult CTAS Hi's will retail for $80 and the All-Star BB Shift CX for $120. The two kids CTAS EasyOn pairs will retail for $55 (Hi) and $50 (Ox).
