The Vans Old Skool Premium Music Collection Honors The Iconic Silhouette

Since 1977, Vans’ Style 36 silhouette, commonly referred to as the Old Skool, has been a staple in the wardrobes of millions. While it started in the skateboarding world, the silhouette has expanded its reach into mainstream fashion and niche subcultures, particularly in underground music. To celebrate the model’s connection to the music scene, Vans is launching the Old Skool Music Collection, which features three capsules of Old Skool colorway inspired by different eras and genres of music.

The first drop is set to take place in February, containing designs inspired by the ‘70s and ‘80s. Included here are a leopard print design and three solid-colored Old Skools, with the leopard print pair converting the midfoot and tongue in the exotic graphic while the rest of the upper and sole unit is coated in black.

The next drop is inspired by the Warped Tour era, which, for those who weren’t around for the golden era of Vans Warped Tour, hosted some of the hottest musicians in the alt and punk rock scene from 1995 to 2019. Vans is also bringing back the Warped Tour in 2025, with stops nationwide.

Vans brings two multi-color designs in this Warped Tour capsule alongside the classic checkerboard pattern and a flame graphic-covered colorway. The multi-color pairs apply different shades to the suede toe, eyestays, and heel compared to the canvas base layer, while the flame pair adds the graphic to the collar and midfoot in a fiery red finish. Finally, the third capsule recalls the era when underground hip-hop adopted the Old Skool.

Here, the silhouette comes covered in vibrant colors and is paired with gum sole units, including a baby blue, orange, purple, and tonal brown. Contrasting these pairs are cream hits on the sockliner, laces, and side stripe. All the pairs in the capsule feature refined materials and modern construction, including an improved fit, Sola Foam ADC insoles, and higher foxing tape to align with ‘90s-era Vans footwear.

The Vans Old Skool Premium Music Collection will release over the coming months, with the ‘70s and ‘80s capsule releasing February 6, 2025. Following this, the Warped Tour capsule will be released on March 6, while the underground hip-hop-inspired capsule will drop on April 10.
