Japanese outerwear brand White Mountaineering has enjoyed successful footwear collaborations over the last few years, working with Timberland, Vans, and Merrell. After last teaming up with Merrell in 2023, the duo is back for a project on the Merrell 1TRL Moab Speed 2 GTX.
Across the trail-ready sneaker, we see a white and icy grey color palette, evoking scenes from a mountaintop. Gore-Tex material coats the upper for weather resistance, covering the leather, canvas, and fused TPU panels. These fused TPU overlays span the midfoot and transition colors via an applied gradient pattern, going from a light grey to a pure white as you move back toward the heel. Below this sits a durable canvas material with a snow graphic pattern applied and White Mountaineering branding running across the upper. Inside, the insole splits branding details for White Mountaineering and Merrell, while more Merrell logos are on the pull tabs atop the tongue. Underfoot sits a foam midsole in a gradient pattern, going from dark grey to white as you move back. The trail-ready Vibram outsole that continues the gradient pattern is rounding out the look.
The White Mountaineering x Merrell 1TRL Moab Speed 2 GTX will release overseas on September 14, 2024, through White Mountaineering and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price comes out to approximately $231 after currency conversion.
