Diehard sneakerheads know that before your favorite silhouettes and colorways see a release, the brand samples different variations. Luckily for Yeezy fans, Ye and his team are often teasing the public with prototypes through social media or even the infamous Forbes interview where hundreds of samples were showcased. After a pair of samples were put up for sale online, images of a prototype Yeezy Boot with a Yeezy 500 sole were reposted by Yeezy designer and sample maker Cesar Idrobo on his Instagram story, possibly hinting at a future release.
Over at Yeezy, the crew of designers take inspiration from various archival silhouettes, mashing up a 2014 pair of Nike SFB Field and the adiPRENE+ midsole and outsole of the Yeezy 500. As a combat boot, the upper takes on a monochromatic grey look, utilizing heavy duty mesh along the collar and ankle while the overlays throughout come in suede. Underfoot, a white Yeezy 500 midsole and outsole completes the look. Early sketches and prototypes of this boot were showcased in the Netflix documentary Jeen-Yuhs as well as when Ye took to the streets at a Black Lives Matter protest in June of 2020.
Though this early sample of the Yeezy 500 Boot takes from a Nike silhouette, the final product, if it were to be released, would take elements from this prototype with changes throughout.
