Kobe Bryant’s dismay for his adidas The Kobe 2 sneaker, which now goes by the name Crazy 2, led him to test out sneaker free agency, eventually landing with Nike and creating one of the most celebrated signature sneaker lines ever. However, the sneaker’s polarizing futuristic design is still appreciated by fans, and in the current landscape of sneaker culture, it might find some success. That’s what adidas is hoping will go down as the Crazy 2 is finally getting a retro run after over 20 years in the vault, starting with this All-Star colorway.
Bryant famously wore this All-Star pair during the 2002 NBA All-Star Game, though when it came to the playoffs that year, he would switch back to the Crazy 1 silhouette. The futuristic, outer space-inspired sneaker, which recently appeared in a Silver Metallic colorway, still draws design details from the Audi TT Roadster. The same car helped inform the look of the Crazy 1. Most of the synthetic upper is coated in a white hue, with pops of the Los Angeles Lakers’ yellow found on the rubber toecap and the perforated leather on the top of the tongue and collar.

Shrouding the lacing setup is another synthetic leather panel, which sandwiches the lace set between it and a black mesh tongue to create a “lace-less” look. Of course, this nod to Kobe’s Lakers can't be complete without pops of purple, seen on the heel and toe cap and on the Three Stripes, making up the indent in the midsole. Inside, adidas upgrades the sneaker to feature a more modern cushioning setup, adding Lightstrike and Lightstrike Pro. Finishing the look is a yellow and purple rubber outsole.
The adidas Crazy 2 All-Star will release April 1, 2025, through adidas and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men's and crib sizing, the retail price is set at $160 and $50, respectively.
