In the lead-up to the Thanksgiving Day NFL games, Nike took to Instagram to showcase a campaign of NFL superstars who made the “nasty” list, many of which took the field that day and rocked the Nike Vapor Edge Kobe 6 in the following weeks. This homage to Kobe Bryant saw the iconic Nike Kobe 6 Grinch transform into a cleat for the gridiron. While Nike dropped the pair early on Thanksgiving and plans to drop it again on Christmas Eve, Kobe Bryant’s wife, Vanessa Bryant, posted on Instagram the special edition version of these cleats that sees a mismatched theme containing the regular and reverse Grinch colorways.
The cleat retains its Kobe 6-inspired upper and the same construction as the standard pair, with the left cleat coming in the same Reverse Grinch colorway that hit shelves in 2023. A faux reptile TPU is applied to most of the upper, with a heel counter featuring Kobe Bryant’s signature in an inverted color, green on the Reverse Grinch pair, and red on the standard Grinch colorway. Aside from the fact that the tooling has been changed for the gridiron, the look of both pairs follows the same color blocking and branding as the originals.
The Nike Vapor Edge Kobe 6 SE Mismatch Grinch Cleats will release on December 24, 2024, through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is $230.
