The NBA All-Star Game has always been a grand stage for showcasing some of the most innovative and stylish basketball sneakers, and adidas is adding to this tradition in 2024. The brand is set to release a special retro edition of the adidas Crazy 1, famously worn by Kobe Bryant during the 2001 All-Star Game. This release is part of adidas' broader All-Star lineup, including a retro of Kobe Bryant's adidas Crazy 8 All-Star 1998 and a new iteration of Anthony Edwards' AE 1.
The adidas Crazy 1 2001 All-Star Game edition is a faithful recreation of the pair Kobe Bryant dazzled in during the All-Star festivities. The design draws inspiration from the sleek lines of the Audi TT Roadster, which is evident in its futuristic silhouette. The sneaker is enveloped in a striking golden yellow hue, reminiscent of the original colorway Kobe wore. This synthetic upper is accented with a matching yellow lace set, which sits atop a black mesh tongue adorned with a star graphic and "01," paying homage to the year Kobe showcased these on the court.
The design retains its original charm with a black heel counter featuring a grey "tail light,” a nod to its automotive inspiration. Inside, the sneaker is lined with black leather, enhancing the premium feel and comfort. A black midsole and outsole complete the look, providing a sturdy and stylish foundation for this iconic basketball shoe.
The adidas Crazy 1 2001 All-Star Game is currently available via European and Asian retailers with a US release slated for February 2024 through adidas and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $150. Stay updated on this release and more by following our Twitter and downloading the Sole Retriever mobile app.
