The legacy left behind by Kobe Bryant continues to shine through in projects from all brands, and the latest Crazy 8 from adidas pays homage to Bryant's hometown of Philadelphia using the colors of the Sixers. Earlier this year, in March, adidas released the Crazy 8 Philly edition and has been reissuing Kobe's first signature sneaker in various colorways, including Lakers Core White and Core Black Collegiate Purple.
Originally released as the KB8 in 1998, when Bryant was signed with adidas, the shoe is best known for being debuted by Kobe at the NBA All-Star Game that year. Featuring Feet You Wear technology, the revolutionary impact of the design and aesthetics on footwear is another legacy all of its own. Always beloved by sneakerheads, the ongoing reissues of the Crazy 8 and the Crazy 98, originally the KB8 II, are adidas at its best, tapping into the nostalgia held by many fans while creating a whole new wave from the next generation, ensuring the legacy of Kobe Bryant continues.
In a palette reminiscent of the Kobe 4 that Nike launched in April, the adidas Crazy 8 Sixers arrives with a base of plush team royal blue suede, with underlying panels of off white leather along the midfoot as representations of the Three Stripes branding. Further use of off-white leather is seen at the lower back heel, with visible support straps above it, and finished with a heel tab complete with EQT branding. Better Scarlet is utilized for the inner lining and pull tabs. EQT branding is placed on the back heel tab, with the appearance of FYW Freddy on the medial. Underfoot, the iconic FYW midsole is finished in more hues of white and blue, with a scarlet rubber outsole for increased traction underneath.
The adidas Crazy 8 Sixers is set to release on November 1, 2024, through adidas and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men's sizing, retail is set at $140.
