A staple on shelves consistently for many a year, the adidas Forum 84 Low returns once again. One of the most iconic sneakers in adidas' illustrious history gets enveloped in an Olympic adornment for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France, arriving in time for the events.
In the early eighties, the technology used in sneakers changed forever. Oregon is famous for its athletes and history, but not many made an impact more than Bill Dellinger. A native of Grants Pass and having lived most of his life in Springfield, a true native of the state, he competed and won a bronze medal at the 1964 Tokyo Olympic Games. In 1972, he became the Head coach of the track and field team of the Oregon Ducks, and over the next 25 years, he won 5 NCAA titles, plus 108 All-American honors. While working with adidas in 1982, he created what is now known as the Dellinger Web, a shock absorption webbing embedded into the soles of athletic footwear.
In 1984, famed designer Jacques Chassaing incorporated this into his latest basketball shoe design, the Forum 84. Named after the iconic venue in Los Angeles, this shoe became a court favorite of many pro-NBA athletes, going on for four decades. The adidas Forum 84 Low Paris Olympics, presented in low-top form, is constructed of cloud-white leather and cream-white tones. The Three Stripes on the sides carry hues of red, white, and blue, unmistakenly the Tricolor of the French flag.
The Trefoil logo, embossed into the heel, is branded in gold foil. The tongue tag carries the 24 motif to signify the year of the Olympic Games. Underfoot, an aged midsole sits atop a gum sole with an injection of the red, white, and blue Tricolor in a gum-spatter-like design.
The adidas Forum 84 Low Paris Olympics is set to release on August 1, 2024, via adidas and select retailers worldwide in-store and online. Coming in men's sizing, retail is set at $120. Craig Bell happily talks about sneakers or as he calls them "trainers" every day of the year. An avid Bradford City fan, he's also a big supporter of the Philadelphia Eagles. He will forever profess that Cricket is better than Baseball and that Rugby League is better then Rugby Union. Among his many hot takes, he believes the adidas ZX range is the pinnacle of sneaker design.
